Easter

Since last time, we have been a little shy with the camera...

in the week it was the uual ballet, gym and after school clubs, and Lucy went to see a Take That gig at Milton Keynes, then last weekend we messed about whilst Lucy slept from a night, then I went to work for a bit and Lucy, Ella and Thomas met Amy for a smoothie, then in the evening I went to the Winslow beer festival with Andy, whilst Cath joined Lucy, and they watched a movie (and babysat)
then on sunday..... we did the usual dog walk, but in the wind, and the woods were pretty wet, so we got rather muddy!!

this last week has been the usual, I went walking one night, and Lucy went to the cinema with Amy and Paula...... and then friday, whilst Lucy slept we went to a party, and had an egg hunt, and when Lucy got up, we finished packing the bongo.... checked the weather (it had been getting better all week.... snow due sunday only, wet and above freezing except sunday too!) we jumped in, and roared off to Stow on the Wold....
The trip was planned as an early shakedown run for the summer.... but on arrival, we were told there was a mix up, and all the electric hookups had gone (EEK!) So we had a think, and decided we'd see how we went.... but probably come home sunday instead of staying... as it was due to snow, and Lucy was working Monday night anyway.....

so we pitched the awning, and the bedroom annexe, and put the inner tent in for me and Barney(yes, me and the dog were camping!!!) and went and found chips and then settled in for the night.....

until about 11-12 oclock, when the wind doubled..... and after pondering whether to leave my cosy pit.... I decided I had better do something, so I took down the annexe, and moved the inner tent into the awning..... and listened to the wind till I fell asleep...

we got up at about 7.30... and climbed into the bongo.... and then Lucy showed me outside.... SNOW! And it was about an inch deep in places..... so we had a brew, and decided to strike camp and go home..... by the time we had packed the bongo and had just the awning to take down, it was melting fast, and as we drove off down the road it had gone.... but there you go, we went home, had a full english (for lunch) lit a fire and watched films!!

Barney, who has never camped, he went caravanning with us a few times when Ella was little, was not overly impressed...... he rolled up into the smallest ball and hid under his duvet in the tent.... and when he got home slept for the rest of the day!!! I think he'll want to stay at the 'Hotel Hanover' again in the future!!

then yesterday, the morning snow again melted before our eyes, so we didn't get to even build a snowman, then we went to see Thomas and friends at Quainton.... decided to retreat for our packed lunch, then wandered up for a ride on the miniature railway... and suffered a derailment!! then home to another fire and some snap.

Amy babysat, and we went out for a drink in Buckingham... today has been just like a normal sunday really, and school and work tomorrow....

(and we can try this camping again at half term!)
